Road Maintenance
To report potholes, visibility concerns, or street sign problems, please call (608) 278-7860.
The Public Works Department has the following street maintenance or repairs for this summer. Homeowners on affected streets will receive notice prior to work beginning.
Please note that the entire length of the streets listed below may not be affected. Instead, only certain sections may be repaired. Other, less worn sections may be repaired or maintained in future years.
Three types of repairs or maintenance are being performed. The method used is determined by the condition of the existing road and other engineering considerations. Resurfacing includes pulverizing the existing asphalt surface and relaying a new layer of asphalt.
Slurry seal consists of a finely graded aggregate mixed with asphalt applied in a layer approximately 1/4 inch thick. The slurry seal penetrates the smaller cracks to seal them. In addition, it provides a new wearing surface which extends pavement life and improves traction.
In chip sealing a thin layer of asphalt is applied to the road surface, followed by an aggregate cover. Chip sealing increases pavement life, provides a waterproof seal, and improves traction.
