CrimePrevention
Do you know what Crime Prevention means? Crime prevention is making it harder for crime to happen by reducing the chance for criminals to victimize you and your neighbors. It is protecting people, property and increasing community safety. It is developing partnerships with your neighbors and the police department. Crime Prevention is all of us taking responsibility and working together to keep our homes, parks, families and neighborhoods safe.
The Fitchburg Police Department has two Crime Prevention Officers, Kelly Jacobson and Jay Wilson. They are both certified by the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP). To obtain certification, Kelly and Jay completed the required Crime Prevention Practitioner course at Fox Valley Technical College and successfully completed the certification exam. Additionally, they have also attended training courses including alarm systems, crime prevention through environmental design, and physical security.
