Communication Center
The City of Fitchburg Police Department's Communication Center serves the citizens of Fitchburg with innovation and professionalism. A Telecommunicator has two primary roles in the Communication Center. One of these roles is that of a call taker, handling all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls using a computer aided dispatcher system. The other role is radio dispatching (dispatching calls for service over the radio).
Telecommunicators are civilian staff dedicated to provide the best service possible to the citizens and visitors of Fitchburg. There are 4 full-time and 5 part-time telecommunicators who provide twenty-four hour a day dispatching. The Communication Center is usually the first, and sometimes the only contact people have with the Fitchburg Police Department.
