How can I get a copy of a police report? Back
You can call or stop by the Fitchburg Police Department. There are fees involved when getting copies of reports. Our Records page has a schedule of fees. You can also request a report online on our Records page as well. To go to our Records page, click here.
Can all police reports be released to the public? Back
Most police reports can be released to the public. Some reports involving juveniles may not be released. Also, if an investigation is ongoing, reports will not be released which could jeopardize the investigation. If you have questions about this, you can contact our Records Bureau at (608) 270-4343.
How long does it take to get a police report? Back
It usually takes only a few days from the date of the incident to be able to get a copy of a police report. Some reports may take longer if there is an ongoing investigation. All reports need to be reviewed by a sergeant prior to them being released to the public. If you complete a request for a report, you will be contacted when the report is available. |
