What can I do about barking dogs? Back

If there is a problem with a dog, or other animal, habitually disturbing the peace by barking or other noise, please contact the Fitchburg Police Department at
(608) 270-4300. It is helpful if you call while the activity is occurring.

 

What can I do about animals running loose in my neighborhood? Back

It is illegal for the owner or keeper of any animal to let the animal run, or be at large, on property other than that of the owner unless the animal is under immediate human voice control. If you see an animal running loose, please call the Fitchburg Police Department at (608) 270-4300. Please provide a description of the animal, and the location that it was last seen.

 

What do I do if my pet bites someone? Back

Contact the Fitchburg Police Department as soon as possible at (608) 270-4300. An officer will respond and take a report. The animal will be quarantined in the event it has rabies. If your pet has rabies vaccinations, you can quarantine the animal at your home.

 

How do I get a dog or cat license? Back

Dog or cat licenses can be obtained from Fitchburg City Hall located at 5520 Lacy Road.

 

Does my dog need to be on a leash? Back

When on public property, or property not belonging to you, your dog needs to be either on a leash, or under immediate voice control. If on City property, dogs must be on a leash.

 

How do I get a live trap? Back

Live traps are available at the Fitchburg Police Department (5520 Lacy Road). A deposit of $55.00 is required when you pick up a live trap. A live trap contract and instructions will be given to you upon picking up the live trap. A full refund of the deposit will be given upon the return of the live trap that is cleaned and in good condition.
