Police Department Demographics

 

The City of Fitchburg Police Department is housed in the newly constructed (1999) City Hall Building located at 5520 Lacy Road.  Our state of the art facilities allow police personnel to provide our residents with efficient law enforcement services.

 

- Police Department Facilities  -. Our facilities include a 24-hour communication center with TTY access, integrated computerized records and police information systems, an evidence lab, and a municipal court.    

 

- Personnel  - The department employs 60 persons, of whom forty-two-six (42) are sworn personnel.  There is one (1) full-time administrative assistant, four (4) full-time and five (5) part-time Police Telecommunicators, four (4) Detectives, (1) Court Liaison, four (4) full-time Records Clerks, one (1) Crossing Guards, and two (2) Community Service Officers.

 

- Command Staff  - The Chief of Police has a command staff consisting of a Deputy Police Chief, two Lieutenants, and six Sergeants.

 

- Budget - The City of Fitchburg Police Department has an annual budget of approximately 4.5 million dollars.

 

- Calls for Service - The City has approximately 20,000 calls for service annually.  1,100 of which are arrests for felony or misdemeanor offenses.  4,000 of which traffic and other municipal citations are issued.  There are approximately 400 reportable accident investigations annually and approximately 700 criminal investigations annually.
