Mission Statement
To provide Career Firefighter responsibilities and experiences to selected Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Fire Protection Technician students.
Intern Expectations
Must maintain 3.0 grade point average in core Fire Protection Technician classes, and a 2.5 overall grade point average as a Full-Time student. Which consists of a credit load of at least 12 credits per semester.
Must be able to meet all physical requirements as specified by the Fitchburg Fire Department. As well as complete station duties, truck inspections, and dispatch duties.
Intern Work Schedule
Interns are required to work on a rotating schedule of once every third day.
Monday thru Friday shifts, begin at 16:00 hours and end at 08:00 hours the following morning.
Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday shifts begin at 08:00 and end at 08:00 the following morning.
Intern Provisions
* A bed to be used while on and off duty.
* Storage area for personal articles and clothing.
* Fire fighting turnout gear.
* Stipend of $150.00 per bi-weekly pay period
* Tuition Reimbursement Program
