Firefighter Visits / Firehouse Tours
Basic Information for all Firefighter Visits
- Firefighter visits must be scheduled at least one week in advance.
- Firefighter visits last 20-40 minutes.
- A maximum of two visits per day, per firehouse, can be scheduled. If you have more than one group, you will need to submit a separate registration form for each group and their visits will be scheduled accordingly.
- Visits may not be scheduled earlier than 9:00 AM
- The firefighter visit may be cancelled at the last minute with no notification due to emergency response or firefighter training requirements.
- The Fitchburg Fire Department does do fire safety assemblies. Special arrangements do need to be made.
- For large groups of children we prefer to break them into age appropriate groups (i.e., K-2, 3-5, etc.) and schedule separate visits for those groups.
Firefighter Visit Options
You may choose Option A or Option B. You cannot select both options. Be sure to select the option that is most appropriate for your group.
Option A - Firehouse Tour
- Maximum number of participants is 30 (not including chaperones) per group.
- 1 chaperone for every 5 children (preferred). Firehouses are active places for firefighter work. This must be kept in mind when touring the station. Appropriate ratios of children to chaperones are required.

- A parking area must be provided where the fire engine/truck can get in and out quickly in the event of an emergency.
