Fire Stations
In 2008, the City commissioned a study of the location of the fire stations. This has, in turn, led to a plan in which both existing fire stations will be replaced by two new facilities that are better located to serve the current and projected call volumes and locations than the existing fire stations. More information about the fire stations and the location study is located here. Apparatus

Training
The training division is headed by Division Chief Lance Langer who develops the curriculum and training materials. Topics are often based on recent incidents, both in Fitchburg and around the United States, to help tie basic firefighting and rescue skillls to real world situations, and to help department members learn from the experiences of others. More detailed information about training is available on the Department's Training page. SOGs and Member ManualMembers of the department are provided with a binder that contains policies, procedures and guidelines by which the department operates along with other useful information. This information is also made available online for department members and the public. Information is periodically updated as new policies and guidelines are created or existing ones modified. |

Training is a crucial aspect for the Department. Thousands of personnel-hours are devoted to training each year at department drills, company-level exercises, recruit training and outside education opportunities.
