The Fitchburg Fire Department and Automatic Aid Departments (Verona and
Town of Madison) responded to a reported house fire in the area of Fish Hatchery Road and County Highway M. While responding the Fitchburg City Wide Tour Commander advised flames visible from approximately a mile away. Upon arrival, units found a single family residence with a significant body of fire consuming the structure. An aggressive attack by all companies on scene resulted in a rapid knockdown of the fire and preserved property. Due to conditions firefighters performed a Vent, Enter and Search to locate any possible victims with
none found. A partial collapse of the roof was reported 10 minutes after arrival. During search operations, companies located a canine. The canine was removed and despite being dirty, was doing well. No one was home at the time of the fire. Investigators determined cause to be
accidental and electrical in nature.
