If you experience your sewer backing up, please discontinue use of your water and contact the Fitchburg Utility

 immediately at (608)270-4270 during normal business hours, or (608)270-4300 after hours.

 The Fitchburg Utility will first check the public sewer main. If the public main is blocked the Fitchburg Utility will flush

 and remove the obstruction to restore service. The Fitchburg Utility will notify the property owner or resident once

 the blockage is cleared and the service is restored.

 If there is no indication of a blockage in the City sanitary sewer, it is likely that the blockage is in your private sanitary

service. The Fitchburg Utility will notify the property owner or resident of this fact and advise them to contact a local

sewer cleaning company. Clearing blockages in private sanitary services is the responsibility of the property owner.
