Rain Gardens

Nannyberry Park rain garden

Rain gardens are areas of planted native vegetation that soak up rain water, improve water quality, and provide habitat for birds and butterflies. They also reduce stormwater runoff which can cause flooding and drainage problems and can carry pollutants into streams and lakes.

To see an example of a rain garden, visit the garden in Nannyberry Park (shown left) or the one in front of the Community Center (near Lacy Rd).
