Absentee Ballots

 

 

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot.  A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward of the municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 days before the election.  The elector must also be registered.

Applications for Absentee Ballot are available in the City Clerk's Office, 5520 Lacy Road, Fitchburg WI 53711, (608) 270-4200 or can be downloaded on this page.  An Application must be submitted before an Absentee Ballot can be issued.  Downloaded forms must be completed, printed, signed, and returned to the Clerk's Office.

 

Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, overseas, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk.

 

Absentee Ballot Deadlines

 

Ballots are available approximately three weeks before each election.

 

All voted ballots must be returned to the municipal clerk so that the ballots can be delivered the proper polling place before the polls close on the day of the election. 

 

By law, any ballots received after the polls close cannot be counted.
